    Default Non-Vx towbar recommendations?

I think I have decided on a Westfalia detachable 'invisible' towbar plus the Vx proper wiring kit. Any experiences or recommendations to the contrary please?

They all seem very similar, I am amazed that the nose weight is all taken on a couple of ball bearings in the socket (pictures here of a similar bar).

I have a Bosal vertical detachable on an estate. Works fine however it stays on a long time after I have finished towing (to lazy to remove). Have had two on it as someone hit the backend in January and the repairer changed it as a precaution. The original looked more solid but the second feels very definite locking into place. Both towed around 1700kg with no problems. I think they are all good I went for the Bosal as it had the folding light socket bracket. The only think visable is the cable brake attachment

I've always had fixed bars fitted to my vehicles and they have saved some serious damage when the car behind has failed to stop! I'm about to fit a Witter to my SRi and have also considered the Vxl wiring kit but i have heard that some Vectra's sometimes require Tech2'ing to make the wiring work fully which if true makes the wiring slightly more expensive than buying another make of kit ie: Witter,Towequipe

Thanks - yes the Westfalia has the folding socket - I understand the Witter one will have soon too. All very similar I think.

I have the factory swan-neck Westfalia fitted to mine and its fine. The car does have to be Tech2 to enable the fridge lines, and to disable the cars reversing and fog lamps when towing, also for the statutory light warning when towing.

I had a Towsure fixed towbar and there make of single electrics fitted to mine and dressed up the towball etc so it would look quite smart.
The money saved on this has been spent on other styling and performance mods.
