    Default New clunking noise, Yippee!!

    Hi Guys,

Fitted a set of goodyear f1 assymetrics to my 1.9cdti a couple of weeks ago, also got new brake pads fitted, now here's the question.

I seem to be getting a clunking noise now when I go opver speed bumps or if i thit a nice piece of road that allows the car to jump slightly. Really not suire whats going on took it into the guys at kwik fir today tio get them to do a "FREE SUSPENSION CHECK" for me. They said it all looked good but I would need 2 new tyres on the bacl"Surprised at quick fir trying to make me buy something!!!!!" Its going back into the stealers on friday for a real check but wondering if anybody has had this before, i read the f1 assymetric had some new cornering thing in them which makes the sidewall really hard and wondering if the noise i am hearing is just the side wall creasing a bit going over speed bumps.n Apologiesd for the essay but very confused.com.

sounds like it could be your anti roll bar bushes, the car makes a creaking noise when you go over speed humps and such, they are only about £10-£15 for the pair, add another £70 or so if you get the dealer to fit them

hope that is of some help to you.

anti roll bar bushes are fine according to kwik fit, thought it might be a drop link.

Exactly the same for me on the nearside, i had the assymetrics fitted about 4/5 weeks ago and now get a clunking noise intermittantly, i wasnt sure if it was down to changing tyre sizes 50 - 45s but also first noticed it when towing our caravan. I have just got my car back 10 mins ago after breaking down for the second time in 5 weeks so yet another ecu and fusebox fitted. and just realised the fuel flap does not lock so on the phone again and the car is back in next week. (car is 18 months old)!!!!!!!!

Had that fitted on all 3 vectras I've owned. The noise is a very loud spring sound rather than a clunk

as what has been said before m8, it could be the drop links as they are common in going and the anti-roll bar bushes but not as common, which only cost about £4 each from the dealers and the drop links are about £15 each, but you could also have a broken spring

if from the rear it could be the shock absorbers, they seem to clunk when worn but not bad enough to be leaking
