    Default Newbie, After Some Advice.

    Hi.

Am looking at getting a 03/04 Vectra SRI after Christmas now or maybe before if it see a good one.

Am looking at a derv, I know they do the 2.2 DTI and CDTI (150bhp), I know the CDTI is the newer engine and more powerfull, But is there much between the two?. And whats the engine noise like?.

Also i have looked at a few reviews, And the 2003+ seem to go down in spec abit, Is this also correct?.

What power can i expect after a remap from the 2.2DTI or the CDTI (150)

    Thanks in advance.

    Luke

the CDTI gives the most gains with a remap or caterman box.
i used to have a CDTI and it was great did seem to me like it was a quiet well quiet for a diesel.
there have been known problems with the cdti's but then again theres problems with all cars i have never owned a DTI

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at getting an Ibiza PD130, As a few mates have them and they engine noise is quite. So am after them same really, Pretty quite inside the car.

Are the older DTI noiser compared to the CDTI's inside the car?.

All cars now have problems but are they any big ones that are common with the DTI's or CDTI's?.

    Thanks

the only reason i would think the CDTIs to be quieter is becuase there newer and it was really quiet inside the car DTI the only one i have been inside was a corsa 1.7 dti and that was kinda noisy probably becuase it was on a cold morning.
the problems that i have heard with the cdti is the DMF (Dual mass flywheel)
other people might no more but if its well looked after you should not get many problems i did not in the time i have had mine.

How come your after a diesel do you use it for high milage?
i have heard that the DTIs turbos are ment to be bullet proof dont know how true that is.
buf if your after easy and cheap power go for the cdti easy to tune for power i have a 2.2 direct now and love it is so smooth and is not short of power

I have a CDTi 120, and so far it's been brill.
I can imagine that the 150 is powerful, but tbh the 120 is more than enough.

If you're after power + reliability maybe you should look at the 3.0 V6 Diesel?

thats what i had the 120 and it was really good.
TBH the 150 cdti is more tuneable then the 3.0 V6 as i have heard they have problems with fuel pumps when tuning and they tend to give up .
what is it your after mate power or reliablity?

Look for a 53-05 plate SRi 3.0 V6 CDTi, you won't go far wrong. The 2.2DTi's can be problematic, so can the 1.9's. THe 3.0 gives very few problems at all, pull like trains and if driven with a bit of sympathy, can be reasonably economical.

Am after some power, And dont want any problems, But in the real world thats not gonna happen.

Pretty much would like some low down grunt and can cruise on the motorways at 80-85 with no fuss. And nippy around town. My mate has his Ibiza PD130 remapped to 170bhp and that seems really good low down, Thats what am after.

What are the 2.0T like on fuel, Am currently driving an 03 Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCI which does very good MPG.
