Speaking to someone else on here earlier and we both have roughly the same headunits and they only work with the ignition on. all steering wheel controls function but cant use the stereo with keys, is there a way round this or not... all help greatly recieved

Should that read "Can't use the stereo without keys"?

I've got a Pioneer DEH7000UB and I can't use mine without the ignition being switched on either. I'd also like to know if there is a way around this.

I have the same problem. Switch on & off is a function of the CanBus so the only alternative is to make both live connections permanent & switch the radio on & off via the radio itself. Someone may do a CanBus power adaptor but it's likely to be very expensive.

Which switched source do people use then rather than taking a second permanent live from the cig lighter?
