Default Elm 327 and spanner light..

I have an elm 327 obd cable which I used recently to read and clear fault codes when my orange engine management light came on. You can also read loads of live data using software like digimoto and it works really well.
However, I now have the dreaded spanner light on my dashboard. Is there any software I can buy or download to enable me to read these types of code?

    Cheers...

there sure is...the only LEGAL software is Vauxcom....www.ilexa.co.uk

    it's not cheap thou....

why won't your current software clear it.. i take it it's not an engine fault then..

(moderators note...No links to dodgy ebay auctions or bent software sites folks eh?.. )

I have tried Digimoto, scantool and proscan, all these programs connect to the car just fine and will read generic P0 fault codes and show me quite a lot of live data. All these programs report 'no codes stored', when obviously there are as the spanner light is on! Do I just need better software or is my elm 327 not up to the job? Obviously, I'm not condoning software piracy in anyway, shape or form, but is this type of software available for download anywhere?

it's not avalaible for free download legally anywhere...

it's a problem we have come across before with many cheaper scanners and diagnostic tools...they just simply don't have the 'depth' to them....

i'm sorry to say, you'll need a better tool, it's more than just software........

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

I reset the wifes engine warning light yesterday (P0401 and P0404 - both EGR related) with the office handheld diagnostic kit (OmiNspect - Omitec) after I cleaned the valve and actuator vacuum pipe.

I also plugged it into mine and found no DTCs - like I expected.
