I went to the Opie Oils website (http://www.opieoils.co.uk) and searched for a service pack for my GSi. Lo and behold it came up with four recommended oils for my specific vehicle. The service packs include enough oil for your change, plus a litre for top-ups, plus a decent oil filter (UFI).

I opted for Mobil Synt S 5W-40 for my car. It came in at just over £50 delivered, with the Vectra-C club discount (10%). Bargain! It is Opel approved and is a grade that is recommended in the Owner's Manual too, so I am .

If 10w 40 is approved viscosity and the ACEA rating is also ok, then the oil will be OK to use - but won't be extended life oil.

£50 sounds expensive for engine oil IMO, when VX approved and branded long life oil (5W30) is about £25 for 5 litres over the counter with discount.

Yep, to echo STE, the magnatec is fine to use, but only for 10,000 miles.. then you MUST drain it out..

    Graham,

IMHO, VX advise that after 3 years they use 10/40 unless requested other but 1st 3 years 5/30, as i have mine done every 10k or 12months whuich ever hits 1st either will do, but i suggest 5/30 from fleabay 10litre for £45. last me a while and VX have even offered to use my oil if they serrvice it as long as i use there parts!... cant go wrong, saved £47 of the service bill.
