    Smile Lights! (HID Kit)

    Anyone bought the
MTEC HID CONVERSION KIT for 'VECTRA C'

    from HID-Direct?

If so, what lights does it change (dipped and main beam?)

And what experience have people had with these.

Is the discount still available to Vec-C members.

    Ty.

They replace the dipped beams. I think the discount has finished, but thanks to the forum they are supplied with the correct looms to prevent dashboard warning lights.

From what I have heard people have got on OK with them. Have a quick search around I think there are some piccies as well.

So main beam lights will still be Yellowish compared to the dipped Blue-white light?

Is there anyway to change this too? Just seems a bit odd on its own.

    Ta for quick reply.

As far as I know you can use the same kit for the mains as well. I haven't done it, so thats not gospel!

In farness on my 04 plate sri the bulbs are the same type and wattage for both dipped and main. I have a feeling they may have changed them on the facelift but you wont need to worry about that if your sig is anything to go by.

    Thats what I thought!

Have a search about the forum as there are some good standard bulbs that do a similar job colour wise. I just cant remember what the site was called that sold them!

I don't think you can just instal a HID kit for the main beam - HIDs have a "soft start" system, whereby it takes a few seconds for them to reach the correct intensity, which would make your mainbeam useless at flashing "to warn other road users of your presence". I think OEM bi-xenon systems retain a halogen bulb in the main beam to use for flashing your headlights, and the HID bulb for more sustained use of mainbeam.

HID’s as main beam without the shutter system is not a good idea; you can do it if you want but gas discharge lighting does not like being switched on and off. It will over stress the ballasts, which will be trying to constantly re-strike hot bulbs and the bulb life will be seriously shortened.

High beams on OEM HID’s use a shutter to change the beam pattern and do not switch the bulbs. They do also use a standard halogen for flashing.
