Default What would you buy if you went looking for a vectra tomorrow

Forgetting types of engine and petrol vs diesel – assuming:

    1. It is a private buy
    2. The car remains at the same spec. throughout its life
    3. The engine performance works well with motorway and urban duties
    4. Has a full service history
    5. Car price follows the various car price bibles

One year old. Mine was £10.000 cheaper at three months old than new. Not that anybody pays list price do they?

But cars (if they are looked after) can last for several 100k miles.

Would you go for a bargain high mileage option or the higher priced low mileage option????.

If you factor in major servicing points, a significant number of bits could be replaced/renewed.

The other thing to factor in is depreciation.

I always buy cars at 6 to 12months old..that way you get the benefit of the balance of the manufacturers warranty to sort out any issues with the car FOC.. yes, you do get to 'pay' the depreciation, but you only ever get what you pay for in this world.... However.... It IS a buyers market at the mo, so you should be able to hammer out a great nearly new deal..

Bigger engined cars are also less popular.. the 2.8T came to me at 6 months old and £13K off list price with 6K miles on it...couldn't get my bank card out quick enough..

one year old for me. I paid £8k for my 04 at exactly one year old and 13K miles.

It's now done 96K and probably worth less than 2K, but you don't buy a car as an investment.
