    Default Sapphire black swirls

    First post so here goes.
Just bought my first Vectra C. Bought it from a dealer in Devon on network Q. Picked up the car on Thursday evening and all well. Picked her up at 19:00 so was getting a little dark by then. Morning after it was very bright sunshine and what was my pride and joy the night before suddenly looked like a car that had spent it's entire life in a car wash .

The sides of the car looked like they were covered in cobwebs if you stood it in the sunshine. This was all over the car. Took it back to the dealer who said that it was normal for black but on closer inspection agreed that it was rather bad and have now agreed for it to go to a professional body shop for a polish.

Anyone else have this problem with the Sapphire black?

    57 reg SRi.

Black really does show up swirl marks. Machine polishing is the only way they can be removed as opposed to try and mask them. Mine still has a few even though I've tried to wash it carefully from the day I got it.

    Welcome to Vectra-C, BTW.

Black is a pain to keep clean, but does look great for 5 minutes. It doesn't look like it had much dealer prep. It could be worse as you could have buffer trials and all sorts. I would get someone on here to MP them out for a few beer tokens, so soft Vx paint.

Steve, try using Meguiars Scratch-X in the long term after your professional job is done. Its excellent for removing swirls. Follow it with a decent wax (I use Meguiars NXT Tech Wax). They have a product for everything you need.
Not cheap but they go a long way and do a super job.

Halfords stock a lot of their stuff and if you wait for their Buy2get1Free offers, its not too hard on the pocket

Unlucky on getting a black sapphire car as swirls are a problem they stand out so much more than anyother colour. Also unlucky regarding the place offering to get a bodyshop to polish your car for you. Our local dealer bodyshop polished my sisters brand new black corsa and it was worse when it came out than when it went in and they still hadnt sorted the problems it went in with. they had a 2nd go and improved it but it is covered in swirls on the bit they did, the other side is perfect.

You really need a detailer to polish it to remove the swirls.

Good advice there M8 I argee totally the only problem is Devons to far for me to travel lol

Once corrected dont use a sponge to wash the car though as the swirls will just come back again get a wooden mitt and uses the 2 bucket method to wash the car. But remember to rinse the car prior to washing with a PW or a hose, to wash of the grit and grime.

Deffinatley do not use Scrath X. It has abrasive beads that do not break down like pro polished and can cause even more damage..

    NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Don't use a wooden one or it'll be worse than when you started. Use a 'Woolen' one!

Snowman, you got your ears on?
