Default V6 3.0 CDTi info please

I have posted on the engine/drivetrain technical forum about a problem I have with my 6 speed auto gearbox: when first started in the morning, it changes up at 1500 rpm but after a few miles, it begins to change up at 2000 rpm. This results in my driving along at nearly 40 mph still in 3rd gear and generally making the car less economical.
The dealer's comments are contradictory: on the one hand saying that this is normal but then saying that this is a known fault but as there are so few V6 auto models, it's not worth their while trying to find a remedy.
So, as this forum seems to be visited the most, I'd like to ask if you have the same engine/gearbox, at what rpm does your box change through the gears when being driven gently? Please be detailed ie 1 to 2, 2 to 3 etc. Thanks very much.

cant help very much as mine is the 5 speed auto, but to be honest, ive never really felt it change gear, but the gearbox has a learning mode and depending on how you drive, the gearbox will change faster for sportier driving and slower for grandad type driving

    Hi
I have just purchased a 3.0CDTi 6 Speed Auto as well and EXACTLY as you find the gearbox when its cold is fairly OK but when its warm 3rd Gear does not change to 4th till 42 MPH and 5th till 60mph and 6th 68MPH its doind just 32 mpg around town aarrgghhh!! and driving around at normal 30-40 mph you can feel the engine holding back all the time as the car should change up gear to lower the revs. I have now spent 2 weeks on the phone to vauxhall and trying to talk to all the 17 year old mechanics in the vauxhall garages who have not a clue ( and are not really interested) I am now going to sell it and go back to a FASTER MORE ECONOMICAL PRE 2006 VECTRA lovely 5 SPEED auto 0-60 8.4 secs not 6 speed 9.5 secs and 6 more to the gallon.
If you find a mod or solution to these nasty gearboxes changing up to late and making the car rev to high please let me know at 40 mph its doing 2150 rpm at 90 mph its doing 1700 rpm SOMETHING IS WRONG and vauxhall need to sort this out

Actually 32mpg around town in a 3.0V6 Auto is good. Our 2.2DTi Auto (5speed box) does 30 or less

My own manual transmission does between 30 and 35 mpg, which is very good for such an engine

Just one thing to note is that this engine prefers running at slighty higher revs so that the turbo is active or at ridiculously low revs so that it is at just above fast idle (800 - 1000 rpm)
However, the disadvantage is that this often means many gear changes
    Examples :
    Up to 30mph - 3rd gear or 5th gear
    Up to 40mph - 4th gear or 6th gear
Up to 50mph and above - 6th gear

i used to get 25mpg out of my 3.0 5 speed auto so 32mpg is good and better than my 1.9cdti manual!!

Had a face-lift V6 CDTI Auto Signum and mine done the opposite which I believe is what its meant to do. When first started it changed gear at higher revs to allow the engine to reach operating temp quicker and then it would depend on your driving style as the auto-box is adaptive
