    Default 1.9CDTI 150 Vs 3.0 V6 CDTI

Im still wanting to change my car... want another vectra though. Thinking about a 3.0 v6, although on paper it doesnt seem much of an improvement over the 150 which I have at the moment. Insurance is out of the window with a 2.8 petrol (only 22 y/o).

Whats peoples views on this. Also if I change I want to go to the Elite from the SRI, want the toys and leather.

I know you guys and girls are always full of advice and info, and it would be appreciated with this dilema...

    Thanks in advance.

in the current financial situation, i'd hold on to what you have.... PX offers are stupid low and cars are very hard to sell 2nd hand....

if you just 'fancy a change'.. hold off for now..

But if you do decide to change get the 3.0cdti, the 1.9's are a mixed bag at best for reliability The 3.0's are much better.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

If you are interested in the 2.8, try the signum. My insurance didn't change too much from the 1.9 when I had mine, a lot less than the vectra would anyway.

All im thinking is my part x value is only going to go down, even if the economy sorts itself out, the value of mine isnt going to rise again, but prices of newer cars could go up again.

Thanks for the advice so far mate

Has anyone got any advice on the performance difference between the 1.9 150 and 3.0 v6? On paper its only like 30 extra bhp, does this make a big difference?

    I've had both m8

The 1.9 "feels" more alert and light whereas the 3.0 V6 "feels" like a big steady plodder. The 3.0 is a quick car though especially in 3rd where the pickup is unreal A tuned 1.9 will be quicker than a standard 3.0 as it's lighter but for me i'd sooner have the 3.0. If you get a pre-facelift Euro3 3.0 you can tune them to around 220+ bhp. Then they become a beast.

Only thing about the V6 is the serious anal raping you get at service time. Filters are silly money, and mechanics run a mile when it's timing belt time too.

We've a number of the V6 CDTi Estates at work, they're always out the door long before the 1.9CDTi hatches. In fact, there's a few 1.9CDTi Vectras that havn't moved a inch in over a year, there's moss growing over the tyres.
