    Smile First MOT

Just had first MOT completed on my 1.9CDTi [120]. PASSED but got 7 !!!! advisarys!

It's acually not so bad as I expected 6 of them - 4 were for low tread - between 2 and 3 mm left all round (next purchase). AND 2 for Front Pads and Front Discs.

The one I want to check with you guys is advisary number 7. "Slight Play in Steering Rack Ends".
1 - How difficult would this this be to fix? DIYable?
2 - More importantly; How much!
3 - Should this be expected for a 3 yr old car with 50k Motorway/Dual Carriageway miles?

    Thanks All

I got the same advisory on my 110,000 mile GSi and the tester reckoned it would last me another MOT at least. He explained it to me but i have forgotten most of it

He did say though that it depends on the rack in the vectra if you can just change the ends or you will need an entire new rack.

the track arms are easily changed.. parts are under £25 a side from VX for the entire kit.....

i did post a bit of a guide to doing the job before....i'll go and look for it..it's very DIY'able

and yes, it does sound about right.. for that age and mileage...
