Well, I'm no detailing king, but here's my two penneth worth!

    1 - Shampoo - Zymol from Halfords.
2 - Swirl Remover - Auto Glym SRP. Applied by Megs foam pads.
    3 - Polish - As above
4 - Wax - Collonite 476, from any of the on line retailers.
5 - Wheel cleaner - Auto Glym clean wheels or Megs Hot Rims, whatever's on offer, much of a muchness.
6 - Tyre Shine - Megs Tyre Gel. Good stuff.

You could also try Mark at AB. Not sure if he's still doing this kit but it's a stunner.

Might need to swap the Snowfoam for some clay if you ain't got a foam lance though although I'd personaly always clay the car anyway.

    1 - shampoo - Duragloss 901 everytime - 2 bucket method remember!
2 - swirl remover - Autoglym SRP as previously mentioned
    3 - polish - as above
4 - wax - Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection (sealant)
5 - wheel cleaner - Bilberry Wheel Cleaner, then seal with Poorboys Wheel Sealant or AG SRP and AG EGP combo works very well!
6 - tyre/trim shine - Sonus Tyre and Bumper Dressing - there are better but this is a good start

    cheers
    i'm no expert but...

see my comments above in bold.

i would also add a session of claying in before the AG SRP.
no need to dry the car before claying as the water will act as lube, but make sure you still lube properly with a QD/lube. Then wash and dry again after claying.

Quick Tip for drying: when you've finished rinsing, spray the car lightly with Quick Detailer and then dry - it helps the drying process no end!

SRP, as well as being a polish, has pretty good filling ability so thats why it's recommended for both swirl and polish

SRP and then EGP is a long time favourite of many, but you can ditch the EGP for something like Collinite 476 - you can layer both for extra protection (which going into winter is what you want) - leave around 24 hours between layers if you can for ultimate bond to the layer below... if you can't then minimum 1 hour really.
Whether you go with sealant (EGP) or wax (476) is up to you really... they will give different finishes and generally a sealant will last longer (being synthetic) - sealant will give a glossier finish where wax will give a deeper, wetter look.

When using the SRP apply with a microfibre (or the proper AG applicator) and work in well (until it's pretty much gone/clear) then leave and buff of with a different microfibre spritzed with some Quick Detailer

oh and you didn't mention glass ... Get a Carlack Glass Sealing Kit.

    this should get you started

** end results are determined by the prep - so don't think you can lax on the wash, clay and srp

It all depends how much you want to spend and quantities
    Decent shampoos
    megs gold class
    megs shampoo plus
    duragloss 901/902

swirl remover scratch X will remove but be hard work
    SRP will hide them
machine polishing its the only realistic way of removeing swirls.

polish SRP does it but megs step 2 is very good when looking for the wet look shine.

Wax Collinite either 476 or 915 as both are good value and very durable.

wheel cleaner, Vallet pro bilberry/chemical guys red berry both the same product I feel and non acidic but do actually work just dilute less for stubourn wheels. useing clay on wheels also helps.

tyre dressing megs endurance is very good, but make sure the surface is clean and it will last longer.

    Red face

iv got meguires gold class shampoo and steps 1 and 2, are these decent products or am i better getting ag srp? im going 2 meet T4M 2morro at his work ( halfords ) and planning 2 get things there. also have a buffer that i bought last year similar to this one

is it better 2 use this than do it by hand???? i was always scared that it would cause more swirls than it removes. i think im sorted with the shampoo and polishes ect but i need to get a good quality wax.
