    Default Bio derv

    Hi Guys,

Does anybody have any info on the use of Bio Derv in my 1.9CDTI.

Been and had a chat to the local supplier, who says that his product must be used as a 50:50 mix with standard derv (Due to the higher viscosity-any greater would lead to problems with vapourisation), but when being used in this way will give greater MPG, better performance and smoother & cleaner running.

Now the sceptical side of me says that this is a load of bollox and it is just his usual sales pitch.

p.s. I've tried the search function, but Bio is too short to search for!

    Thanks

    Daz

Vx do not certify the use of any concentrations of bio diesel for 1.9 CDTi in Vectra.

If VX won't certify the use, then don't use it. Simple really.

no problem, although of course you could be running up to 5% without even realising it. As standard pump diesel to BS:EN590 can have up to 5% Fatty Acid Methyl Ester content (ie bio sourced)

Yep, specifically says in the manual no more than 5% bio in the CDTi.

Though, the DTi is a different story - I ran mine for 2 years on 100% bio, no problems apart from making me hungry every time I got a whiff of my own fumes.

You're right - complete cobblers. plenty of posts on this forum about using either old chip oil or bio diesel (two different things) so have a search. I'm not going into it all again - been there already.

    for my two penneth again.....

for common rail vauxhalls the answer is no...end of....

for DTi's it will be fine at 90% mix in the summer and 30% mix in the winter, but change the diesel filters soon after you start using it..
