    Default Wheel clamps

I got to work today and noticed that I had parked next to a car that had been clamped.

The site is based on a University campus and a permit is required to park (obviously I have one), or you can pay at the meter.

The signage on the windscreen says that it is an offence for unauthorised people to remove the clamp.

Now, I was under the impression that you could remove the clamp, and leave without penalty, as long as the clamp has not sustained ANY damage.

Can anyone clear it up for me?

Can you also sue the clampers for proper removal of the stickers they superglue on your windows?????????????????????

I also thought the same about the removal.

Slightly off the mark a bit but I saw a lorry being clamped at Toddington one night. The foreign git got out in his undies playing up hell but they didn't remove it until he paid the £250! Amazing thing now is they even had a mobile chip and pin machine for him to pay by credit card with!!! Don't fancy cutting one off a wagon though-they're massive!!!

There is the argument that if the clamp is on your wheel, it becomes part of your car and hence your property.

My father-in-law had this once with a Suzuki Van Ste. He was clamped but able to jack up the vehicle and remove the wheel in the normal way and he put on his spare.

The clamp owner complained ( he was just a guy with a wheel clamp and attitude) to the police and the police said " There's not a lot we can do, as the clamp was undamaged".

My father-in-law cocksurely phoned the clamp owner and said that he would drop it back to him for a charge of £50. Ironically, the same as the release fee.

My father-in-law still has the clamp. The clamp owner never made contact to be reunited with his property!.

See 2 foreigners in Thurrock one night get clamped, unfairly i have to say..
They refusedf to pay it, so when the clampers had left, the put a rachet strap round the clamp, tied it to the back of an XF Daf, and gave it a quick snatch.... Ping went the clamp, of went the truck!!! 480 BHP, Vs Little Clamp, there was only going to be one winner wasnt there!!! lol

Problem is m8, they have your reg number and are occasionally licensed to use the clamps. If you damage the clamp, they then have every right to take you to court for criminal damage.

    Good, innit?

The DVLA are having a serious campain against Road Tax dodgers around my way at the moment. Its amazing at the quality and age of cars that people are willing to risk for the sake of a few hundred quid
