Yep, will fit fine (I changed from 215/50/17 to 225/45/17) and are a VX approved fitment as well.

The only thing I've noticed is more money in my wallet as they are cheaper and that the speedo over reads a bit more than normal - this can be changed via Tech2 and I'll have mine changed when its next in the dealer or connected to a suitable unit.

Yes, if u have Vx 17" alloys they will fit on. I fyou check the handbook, 225/45 is an approved alternative size. And they are far cheaper!

Changed mine from 215/50/17's to 225/45/17's a few weeks back. No noticeable difference really, very slightly bumpier but it's negligble, the car looks better and grips better. Definitley do it.

Do it, they are much much cheaper! Also there is no real need to have the speedo changed at the dealers unless you really want to as its such a small difference.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

If you've got 215/50/17's on then it will be on the right setting for the speedo anyway. There's only three settings and if I remember rightly, it's 1 for 16", 2 for 17" and 3 for 18/19" although I'm sure someone will correct me shortly.

Now I thought a wider and lower profile would be more expensive!

Why would it be cheaper as to me its a higher performance tyre by profile and width

Price is often more about popularity - ie commoner sizes are cheaper than less common ones. The new tyres will make your speedo overread by about 1.4 mph more than it does at present.
