Default warning ligts on, on dash

Came back from holiday on sat, car had been left in airport carpark for a week. Started it up, pulled away and noticed i had the spanner light on. I pulled up and switched off engine, restarted but the light stayed on for the journey home (bout 20 miles). Called into asda jumped back in car restarted and the light has gone out.

This morning swmbo took the car to work light still out, but then tonight on the way back home the exhaust gases light came on. I took the car out for spin the light was on and car was ticking over very lumpy. Took it out a little later now the light is out and is running much better.

i've got it booked in to be looked at on thursday but if there is no light on will it have a code stored.

Providing the car/spanner light remains lit until the engine is started then yes; as this indicates there is/are stored fault code(s).

If you go to a specialist with some decent kit they can take a look at the Freeze Frame data - this is stored with details of the conditions when the MIL light last lit. They are kept in memory for some time, or until the light comes on again

codes will still be stored...if you are curious you could go and find out what they are...But personally, if you don't have access to diagnostic kit i'd leave it till it reoccurs..

So i had the codes read today and even though its running perfect now the verdict is, it needs a new egr valve and a swirl valve accentuator rod thingy, no surprise there then.

They ordered up the parts and gonna give me a ring when the arrive....
