    Default Poppy

Once again we will be shortly be remembering our freinds and comrades who gave their lives in the name of this country. As many of you know i am an exservice man of 14 years (Army) and have seen Active service in many countries.

This November marks the 90th anniversary of the end of The Great War.

Remembrance Day and the Two Minute Silence have been observed since the end of the First World War, but their relevance remains undiminished.
When we bow our heads in reflection, we remember those who fought for our freedom during the two World Wars.

But we also mourn and honour those who have lost their lives in more recent conflicts. Today, with troops on duty in Iraq, Afghanistan and other trouble spots around the world, Remembrance, and this two minute tribute, are as important as ever.

    Poppy

    In Flanders' Fields
    John McCrae, 1915

In Flanders' Fields the Poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders' Fields.

    Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though Poppies grow
    In Flanders' Fields.

Please think of all of our Brothers and Sisters of all faiths and creeds who have given their LIFE in support of this Nation..

    WE SHALL NOT FORGET THEM

This year please please try to get out and donate for a Poppy -- we are finding that there are fewer and fewer people willing to spend time collecting on behalf of the RBL

Please --- Please don't forget them

I Always wear a Poppy, never been a serviceman myself, but it's too easy to forget the sacrifice younger blokes than me made so that we could be what we are today.

Will wear mine with pride and and be on parade. This is the first year as a civvy after 27 years in the Army (left in April). I have served in many countries and conflicts and have also lost many comrades.

I will be thinking of those that are still out in war zones unable to join in the parade and have a beer after with the wide mix of "old soldiers"

Was stood in the Afghanistan desert last year for the two minute silence and a prayer.

    Always remember them!
