Hi all,
Been lurking around the forums for a little while now soaking up all the knowledge that everyone seems willing to share, and now I've gotten to the point where I could use your help.
Having recently had our first child my wife and I have realised that our little 3 door car is just not going to cut it if we ever want to go on a half decent journey so we've been looking for something a bit bigger.
Originally we were interested in the pre-facelift Vectra C but seeing as the prices on the facelift models are coming down they are becoming more and more attractive. And here is where my question to you comes in...
Originally we were interested in a 1.9CDTi SRi (07 probably) however the comparative price of the 2.2DTi makes it hard not to seriously consider one as an option. Now the twist is that we have to get an automatic meaning that by my calculation the CO2 of both puts them into the same tax bracket under the new system, so that's one advantage that diesel would usually have gone.
Now I've heard the 2.2 can be tricky, but when the difference between a the 2.2 vs a 1.9 is around £1,500 for what otherwise is the exact same model it seems like a bargain.
So, here's my question...taking into account the need to buy an auto, what else should I be considering when comparing the two otherwise identical cars?
As an extra twist, if I'm not too late there is a 2.2 with XP currently available for roughly the same price as a good 1.9CDTi non-XP, so what would you buy if you had the choice today?
Thanks for reading, it's turned into a bit of a novel - I look foward to hearing what you have to say.
Cheers,
Stefan
