use either a large pair of slip joint pump pliers or a oil filter band strap .... but remember to fully prime it first, right to the very very top or it will airlock..

May I take this oppurtunity to remind Son that the CDTi's will self prime and kick the air from the fuel filter back to the tank

When you turn on the ignition after a fuel filter change you'll hear the pump activate, let it run till you hear it blow the air out then run quiet, then it should be good to go, but its advisable to fill the fuel filter up first
