    Default Noisy car help please

i hope someone can help me here.I have this noise coming from the drivers side of the engine compartment low down. The noise is like dry bearings or bearings running rough. Not saying its a bearing problem though. From the inside it also sounds like air leaking from a pipe but from the engine bay its clearly not when you listen under the bonnet. The noise will increase as i accelerate and get quieter and slower as i deccelerate.

Can anyone shed some light please

If it makes the noise when the car isn't moving, i'd be looking at the alternator and it's front bearings. Check the waterpump as well as it must be dependant on engine speed.. Depending on how hands on you are you could take off the drive belt and see if the car still makes the noise when it's stationary with the engine running.. that would narrow down the list of components..

i'd be careful mate these engines are prone to cam chain failiure.my veccy sri 150 snapped its chain, and that had started to make funny noises only a few days before.im not saying thats the problem with yours, but just to make you aware.thats assuming its a petrol engine.

Higgins.. Has the car had frequent oil changes... VX did mod the cam chain spray's but I don't know when that came in.. If you have a warranty then may I suggest you book it in on monday??

Alternator should be a warranty part. It's a total swap, the bearings are life -sealed..

sounds like the camshaft idler bearing..mine was making a noise like their was an exhaust blow..it was the cam idler..Vx changed the belt and idler for £151. But had it done under warrenty due to less than 40k

it sounds kinda a little rattly for a exhaust blow if that makes sense. Sounds like a knackerd pair of roller skate wheel bearings if anyone can remeber that far back. Its been a while

No bearing guides, just slippers on the 2.2.. If you have ANY thoughts that it may be the chain, get it to VX quickly.. It's an involved job..and if you were attempting it at home you have to budget on the possible need to change the sprockets as well if they show sign's of wear..

Give it to the dealer.. It's what they're there for..
