Coolant Warning Light

Just as it seemed that my mystery ESP warning light has stopped appearing, its friend the coolant warning light has come on a couple of times now!

It only happens with a cold start, and when i'm trying to accelerate up a hill. The engine just feels like it's hit a massive flat spot but drives normally otherwise.

No spanner light, so no stored codes, and each time it has cleared when i've restarted the engine.

Haven't checked coolant level yet because for some reason the expansion tank is black not clear, and it's too hot an hour after turning the engine off! But had no warnings from the trip computer screen so who knows?

Ideas?

Mine was playing silly bu99ers a couple of months ago. Dealers changed the CIM module and all has been well since. Very similar symptoms as yours Paul
Traction Control/ESP, low water and power steering lights were affected
