Default 225/45 Front 215/50 Rear - Setup ok?

Car was in for service today and as I expected I was advised the fronts need replacing, I bought 2 225/45's from Camskill to replace the existing front 215/50's. I intend on replacing the back but was going to wait a month or so as the rear are ok for now. I owuld but the rear on the front and put the new ones on the rear but i've got an odd Avon and NCT on the rear currently.

Am I ok with the 2 new 225/45's on front with the 215/50 on the rear. Had a search on here and I think it'll be ok just want to confirm.

    Thanks

They say on rear wheel cars to put wider tyres on the rear but then thats because where the drive is coming from. As long as u have the same sizes on an axle I think you should be ok. I hate to mix tyre sizes and brands and always have the sames ones all round, just feel a bit safer. I know thats not always possible as the funds £ are not always here to do it.

I would check with your insurance company - I'm with the RAC and they told me the 225's had to go on the back when I started to replace ny 215 NCT's

I'd have thought it would be worse having odd brands on the driving wheels! I only plan on having mix and match between front a rear for a couple of weeks.
My concerns have been quashed! If there is any adverse affects i'll flex the credit card and get the rears matching the fronts.

True, but my insurance company (RAC) told me that I had to have the 225's on the back - if I didn't and something happened then my insurance would be invalid.

Might be worth checking just for peace of mind.

No probs with mine, but vice versa - ie, the 225's are on the front, 215's on the rear.
