i had a subaru impreza turbo and one morning it had a flat battery, so i phoned greenflag for a homestart.
40 mins later they turn up and proceed to rev the bo****ks off my cold car, bearing in mind it had been stood over night in freezing temperatures

i have since cancelled my policy and have been told that i will have to pay £51.50 cancellation fee because i have cancelled only a month into the policy.
i am now getting the debt collectors letters but i have told them i am not paying as this fee is disproportionate and doesnt represent the actual costs incured to the company.
    i,d say avoid greenflag.

Try GEM breakdown cover, they are quite reasonable, can get a quote in like two mins aswell. Are brillitant for family cover, with home start and to be towed anywhere, its like the full package that aa would charge you £120 for

    Thumbs up

I can't (yet!) speak for their car cover as I have never used it while I've been with them, but they were pretty efficient when I managed to write a bike off a few years ago and needed it (and myself) recovering home

i would'nt go near greenflag they use the cheapest recovery operator around all they want to do is tow your car to a garage wont attempt to fix it Asda is doing full RAC cover £73.92 a yr saving £30

I'd suggest going with either RAC or AA - there are various ways of getting discounts, depending on which loyalty cards you have or other affiliations.

In my experience, the companies that dispatch Joe-Bloggs-local-tow-truck-driver who happens to have the breakdown companies sticker somewhere on his truck aren't the best quality - their people don't have as much knowledge or equipment. The RAC bloke for example will even try and connect his laptop to the car to find fault codes. In the past when I broke down and Green Flag came out, the tow truck driver had less knowledge than I did on what the cause may have been, and I don't know that much...

GF are good at towing, less so at actually getting you on your way, which is what you actually want.
