Default vectra c 2.2elegance petrol auto gearbox problem

Anyone have experience with these auto gearboxes drove 280 miles today and noticed the car struggles to pull away in drive when stationery.I think it maybe staying in top gear.i tried to select the manual shift option which always worked and it just stays in drive if i try and click down gears whilst cruizing.I pulled over and stopped and managed to click back on lever but would only slect 2 gear as this shows on dashboard readout. When on 3 occasions i click forward on the lever hopeing to select 3rd it goes bang into 5th.
Ive seen on here other problems with these gearboxes please anyone have suggestions or do i need to get it to the auction.I loathe to do this as i have just put lovely 18" rims on and fitted lowering springs and it looks the nuts. HELPPPPPP!!!!!

Sounds like the usual problem. Do you have any warnings in rev counter display? (car with spanner through it)? Is the engine management light on?
You can try changing the oil to start with as its the cheap option and maybe a couple of sensors, But if this doesnt work its a gearbox rebuild.

    Thumbs up all prey!!!

Blew out goin to vauxhall so rang a friend in the trade he recomended a local old guy lee who was a diamond he put his electronic scanner thingy on and it came up as a p0715 fault .The computer i think as he explains puts the box in emergency mode. The p0715 relates to the turbine speed sensor. It picks up a signal from i think the driveshaft and relates this info to the computer to make sure they are turning at the required speed. He was such a nice guy he then rang my vx dealer ordered the part and got me a trade discount down to £57.11inc vat result!!!!.My local gearbox dealer says his recon boxes are £2200.He said there was no recall on these boxes and said he reckons my problem is gonna be 400-500 if im lucky but lee the eletric guy said vx advised there was.I am awaiting sensor to come in tuesday and also lee aranged for vx to ring me to see if recall has been carried out on mine. All this help an he charges only £25 and 2 cups of tea Lets all hope and prey my box will be back to normal on tuesday and if recall isnt available i will arrange new oil myself and fit a seperate oil cooler. cheers guys shame about hassle as its a great car and looks cool with the 18" rims and lowering kit. As they say its who you know in all cases, im in clacton essex so can pass on phone number of this guy if it helps.

Unhappy I have the very same problem

I do own a 2003 2.2 Vectra ( Chevy ) and have had this transmission problem for almost a year already. The bad news is that I rebuild the gear box already and did not work. the guy from the shop said it is the turbine speed sensor!!!!! were you guys able to fix the problem by replacing it/them?
