    Default Frequency of timing belt/chain

Can anyone tell me when my timing belt/chain is due to be changed, Vectra CDTI SRI 150 (2004)

Also is it a belt or chain.

I've searched the documents I have belonging to the car and it just doesn't make any sense to me.

No guesses please just facts, I don't want to be changing it for nothing, likewise, I don't want to overrun a due change.

    Cheers

Its a belt and VX say 100k. Be warned tho mine went at 60k so I would suggest 50k for a change as I am sure that a lot of other members would agree.

Thanks for that, mine has 59k on now so I'd better get it booked in.

Don't suppose you could advise me on a rough figure ££ also do I get water pump done at the same time.

Within 50k is a safe bet and it would be daft not to get the water pump done too.

Certainly look about the place for quotes as it will be pricey from main dealer........however........if you have half a clue about one end of a spanner to another - have a look at a 'How 2' i did for exactly the same job a couple of months ago, it's not a hard job to do and will only cost you in parts from your local friendly auto-factors!

    Hope it helps!

Just had mine done today on my cdti 120 bhp 54 plate, done 93,000 miles, I have full service history and can verify this is the first time it has been changed, water pump was done aswell, considering the mileage the belt was in very good nick as was the pump and pulleys. I had all the pulleys done also by an excellent independent garage called Precision Engines in Carr Hill, Balby, Doncaster. If ever you have total engine mechanical failure, this is the place to go to, even Ford and Vauxhall dealerships use his skills when they are scratching their heads, he is very knowledgeable and I will certainly be using him again.
