Help! I need to remove my cdc40 unit to fit a HK ipod adaptor, but I cant find any reference to a security code, either on the car pass or in the audio manual. Is there no code, or do I need to go to Vauxhall?

Head Unit comes out on the end of the wiring loom so there is no need to disconnect it. Did this recently to fit HK adaptors but not got much further with the project!

Correct. It's only the half canbus cars that required security codes for the stereo's. Full canbus doesn't.

half canbus = 6 buttons on steering wheel.
full canbus = 4 buttons and 2 scroll wheels on steering wheel.

    Its not in a facelift as such, its in a 55reg pre-facelift Design,with 4 buttons/2 scroll wheels.

If its a CDC40 it will be full canbus (I believe that all two digit radios - CD30, CDC40 etc - are full canbus models) so no radio codes to worry about, the unit basically gets "tied" to a computer in the car.

Just unplug mine was removed at the garage for an hour and it went back in not needing a code. Vx protect them in other ways and it is the joint display and head unit that work together with the other electronic control units hence the need to tech 2 a CDC unit out of a car otherwise it doesn't matter what you do it will not work in any other car, even Vx cannot reset it it needs the doner car.

Thanks guys, as you said, no code, managed to fit HK ipod adaptor with most of the gubbins behind the heater control panel, really impressed with the quality of the Harmon Kardon unit, & @ £29.99 from Amazon you really couldn't be disappointed. Just need to find a way to mount the screen so it can easily be removed from sight, its co-habiting with the ipod in the glovebox at the moment !
