Default Need to replace CV Boots, are they difficult?

    Hey guys

Was told at the MOT that I have a split inner and outer CV boot, one on each side of the car. (Cant remember which one on which side).

How difficult is it to change these?

My previous motor was a Zaf GSi and during an engine swap, I found that the boots needed changing too. Found it a really simple job to do whilst the drive shafts were off.

Is it possible to swap the boots on the Vec whilst the shafts are on the car or is it a simple job to remove them to make it easier.

From past experience of doing the engine swap on my driveway, I'm not too worried about getting my hands dirty!

    I drive a 52 plate SRi pre facelift 2.2dti

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Jus

Did mine a couple of month ago they can be a pain but if you wipe all the grease away from cv joint you can see the small circlip just prize it a part and the joint will come off

Oh btw if you buy main dealer cv boots now there hard plastic, bought both mine from main dealers and they come supplied with grease, bands and new circlip. They make a hell of a noise at first as there hard plastic boots but after a few hundred miles they wear in hth

Excellent stuff guys thanks. Think I'll take the joints off, not sure about those pyramid looking jobbies!

Just got to pull my finger out and get it sorted now!
