    Default Bore Washing?

In simple terms can somebody explain what Bore Washing is? I've googled it but keep getting Car Forums where it's just suggested somebody has it.

    Ta.

When you get too much petrol on the engine and it gets down past the piston rings, thus washing the lubricating proporties of the oil away. That is how I would discribe it. If I am correct.

its where excessivly rich mixture cuases the very thin layer of oil that lubricates the bores and rings washes away, this creates premature wear and possible hot spots.

Basically its flooding the bores with fuel (on starting). If it doesnt start straight away some cars suffer from bore wash. My 24v Senator did this and was a pig to start if it did!.... or in simpler terms....too much fuel in bores to ignight

You will also get lube oil dilution from the excessive fuel going past the rings = BAD.

    Why do you suspect it?

why the question then Steve?.. if it's not to impertinant to ask?...

BTW, bore washing always presents itself as an oil smokey exhaust with a reduction in power.....please don't confuse this with turbo seal failure which is a very sudden oil smoke in the exhaust rather than gradual as bore washing would be...
