Most good car parts retailers stock an option of battery for each car, cheaper batteries tend to have less warranty and also lower cranking power, as a general rule of thumb get the best battery you can afford with the longest warranty, some companies now offer 3 years unconditional warranty. Depends if you intend to keep the car for that long.

A strange, but good source for a battery, can be the local tip. Seriously. Very cheap, if you know what you're looking at. Halfords do 3 year unconditional warranty on their own brand. (I think). So maybe worth buying a Halfords battery for a couple of Quid, and trying it, if it doesn't work, simply return to Halfords and expect a replacement.

Look at the battery you have for the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) and also the Amp Hour rating (Ah). Simply match the numbers, going slightly higher will not have any issues.

Is this legal? ....... or moral?

Not the finest example of behaviour to our younger members I think!

    Odd but true..

Your local VX dealer will have a battery from their 'GO' range that will fit the celica.. Very competative pricing too and a decent warranty.. just ask them to check the catalogue as it covers all makes..

VX want to stop people going aftermarket for replacement battery's and so are doing them a high street prices..

I agree with you, the ethics are for personal debate. Legal - probably yes. The warranty would continue to future owners (this is the probably bit), and if you have paid for it - you would have legal title to it and therefore continuation of any unexpired warranty. You certainly wouldn't be getting a calling from the plod. Halfords could refuse if warranty expired etc. Personally, I have purchased from the tip, but have been in good condition.

We are all adults, and can make personal decisions for ourselves, and taking responsibility for our actions - so I am not worried about setting an example to our younger members.

Sorry you don't agree with me that setting a good example to young people (and others) is important. It would make an interesting poll on this forum (if only I knew how it all worked!!!) to see what percentage of people agree with me or you?
I prefer to show a good example in the way I lead my life, even at the risk of being called a self-righteous fuddyduddy!
Am I totally out of date?

Doug, wouldn't say you are a 'self-righteous fuddyduddy', everyone is who they are. You are slightly mis-quoting me though - I was clearly referencing adults. Younger people (esp children) clearly is a different matter. As such, I do not feel it is my responsibility to be a moral guardian to anyone on here, or judge anyone who offers alternative suggestions, as long as they are not illegal. We make our own minds and have formulated what is moral or not to us - it is a personal thing. People may agree with who, or what, ever they like, personal choice. Morality is a separate issue.
