    Default Glow plug replacement

Anyone have their glow plugs replaced on a CDTi 150? How long did it take? garage claim 3 hours but that sounds a little excessive to me

Have you had a look at the engine with the cover off, if you can see them & get to them, why not just do them your self.
I haven't seen them on a cdti but with my dti it takes less than 20 mins to change them all.

Apparently the CDTi plugs are more awkward or so the service manager says! He said one of them is more awkward then the other 3 and could take 2 - 3 hours to do. Car is booked in tomrrow so I need to know I'm not going to be fleeced....any answers?

I think they're talking 5h17e , my old dti took half hour tops.
One thing mate , be very careful if you change em yourself - if they snap it's a head off job.

Assuming none are seized, 20 mins Tops, I have done a few sets now. You need a long reach 10mm (from memory) Socket & a wobbly extension bar for a more awkward one, But a piece of p!$$ to do.
Lift the engine cover off & you cannot miss them

thanks Dean. i presume you're talking about the CDTi 150 block? That seems a bit more like it. I will point this out to the service manager. I get the impression since car sales have collapsed over here they're trying to make a few extra bob in labour charges

0.2hrs for one plug, plus 0.1 for each additional plug... so my guy at vauxhall says.. so all in all 0.5hrs for all 4.. Tell them to check operation number J486000
