    confused Constant messages on computer?

Had this problem for quite a while now on my 2004 2.2SRi. Messages are forever appearing on the computer and on my dash. Everything from low oil to left parking light to service indicator to right brake light. By pressing the button on the stalk it gets rid albeit for a few minutes and then something else pops up, really weird. The oil, bulbs etc are all fine by the way. I've lived with it but i must admit it does my nut in! Anyone any idea what the heck is wrong please? Cheers!

without plugging it in to a decent diagnostic tool, there's no real way to be sure...

I assume it is full CAN bus so I bet the CAN controller is knackered. No option but to plug it in and see where the it thinks the fault lies.

the controller is not just in one place, it's a computer network , so any module could be at fault..the immobiliser is a function of a few modules, but the pickup is on the ignition barrel..

    The ECU I meant.

I thought the immboliser would be in with the dash pod but having seen someone who has changed their clocks abviously not.

thats the thing, there are up to 21 different modules, all tied into one another, so it's a function of more than one module.....

the immobiliser is a function of the engine ECU, CIM and others..

So in a nutshell the car needs to be linked up to some type of diagnostic machine to see where the fault lies yeah? Mmmm......
