Default Replacement Bulb Types. Still Confused. H7 or H1

I apologise for asking this a second time, but I am still not 100% certain on the type of bulb my car requires.

I wish to order a set of 4 Philips Extreme 80+ headlight bulbs, and I know there are many threads on this same subject and have probably read all of them having searched on this subject.

Okay... car is a 56 Plate Facelift cdti 150 (non AFL lights) therefore it has the standard projector type lens on the main beam.

I know the dipped is H7, but am still unsure whether the main beam is a H1 or another H7. Some of the threads say both are H7, and some say the mainbeam is H1.

To make things even more confusing, yesterday morning I rang my VX main dealer parts counter and asked them the same question and he was sure that both used H7 bulbs, (4 x H7 bulbs)
However today when in Halfords, their bulb type book for my vehicle shows it has being H7 for the dipped and H1 for main beam, I just want to be 100% sure before I buy them.

Even the bulb type info selectors that are on some headlamp bulb sites
seem to be a little contradictive, most not listing upto 2006.
(and NO it does not state bulb type in manual)

Does anyone know for sure. 100%

    For a late 2006, should it be 4 x H7 or 2 x H7 and 2 x H1 ?

I promise its the last time I will ask.

I think they were changed again when the new facelifts came out in Sept 2005.
The Philips bulb site states they are both H7's, while the Ring bulb site says they are H7 and H1, Halfords say they are H7 and H1, but VX dealer says they are both H7.... lol thats why I'm confused.

I shall probably get Halfords to fit some for me, that way I wont have any problems of getting the wrong sort, unfortunately they only stock their own brand and not the Philips which I think may have been a better option, only other way to be certain is to remove them myself and have a look.

Take the bulb out and have a look - H1s are small slim-line bulbs, H7 are much bigger mothers.

Which makes the VX dealer correct, and Halfords and a few threads on here are wrong.

I think another Phone call to VX tomorrow is warranted.

    Cheers matey

Thats interesting, because the guy at Halfords came outside and looked at the headlights to check himself and he reckoned that the one he could see was in fact H1 for the reason you stated that it was slim, he could'nt see the other because its behind some sort of thick magifying lens (like a thick ball of glass) So the Halford guy may be correct and VX is wrong.
