paypal money on hold

as above, just got off the phone to paypal as they have put some fund's i received on hold, basicaly the guy in AMERICA who purchased the item from me could have used a stolen credit card/bank account details, so paypal have held the money until it is resolved, i was shocked to say the least............

anyone else had this happen and if so any advice, i am covered if it is stolen money but realy realy piffed of

item was sent by air-mail and received by him and possitive feedback left on 7th april and his feedback was checked before selling to him too...........

they did say that they couldn't give me a time frame as they have to get in touch with the buyer................, lol wouldn't be so bad but it was my lad's game sold transfered the money over to my acc and given it to him already, so its me out of pocket now......ho-hum nevermind

I had something similar; it can take several weeks, not months... stay in contact with PayPal and/or start 'a dispute' yourself: explain the item was sent already and that you are not responsible
In my case, after 3 weeks I received an email saying the case was 'closed' and my money was gone ... the same day I started a dispute and after another 2 weeks I got it back
I have rather good experiences with PayPal (troubles with others) but you must stay alert and be very patient

As a seller, ALWAYS make sure the payment is covered under seller protection

I state in my terms of sale that for PayPal transactions if the buyer does not include their name and address or have verified status then the transaction will be suspended for 48 hours to allow for complete processing of the funds

Ever since I have put this policy in to force, even when I have been hit by payments on hold or chargebacks, I have not lost any sales to fraud

I have asked PayPal if transactions can be limited only to people with an address or verified status, but they have no plans to do this

In a nutshell, rich, you're stuffed.... Paypal are notoriously unhelpful with the zillions of cases like this they deal with every week. Have a look over on PayPal Sucks and see if you can get any better suggestions on there.

I haven't used PayPal for about 6 months now since seeing that site, and I won't ever use them again. If I can't pay by card over the phone or interweb, I go somewhere else.
