    Default Hand Brake Adjustment

How do you adjust the hand break?

After I changed the rear pad it seems a little looser than it should be, as the MOT is due in a couple of week I'd thought I give it a tweek up.

I had a Calibra before and the adjustment on that was under the car and behind the middle box heat shield.
I started to have a look and as with the Calibra the bolts on the heat shield are waz, Snaped the first one and thought it best to ask if the adjustment is behind the shield before knackering any more.

you'll have to wait till the rear pads take up the shape of the old discs... when you put the new pads in did you push the piston out with the footbrake before applying the handbrake?..if you pull the handbrake before pushing the pads out it will overadjust the travel in the handbrake.

Can't recall if I did or not,
But I probably did as I changed the pads with the hand break off and I would have only put it back on after I bled the break fluid,
which can only be done by pressing the foot break.

I changed the Disks at the same time as the pads.

the handbrake is normally terrible first off after a pad change.. it improves after a day or so.. if it doesn't then it's a reset job by pushing in the pistons, pumping them back out again and then applying the handbrake..

I think I'll see if it fails the MOT first. Then I'll Try.

    Thanks for the advice.
