Radio displays 7 safe any ideas,

Just purchased vectra but cannot put radio code in because it just displays 7 safe and wont let me do anything else can any body please help as i dont have the radio manual its a cdr 2005 vdo thanks .

Was it a dealer or private?

Private buy and old owner dont know he said he never bothered with it as he used mp3 player ,

I would have asked for £50 off as I think you will need to get it from Vx.

I have the code on car pass just cant enter it in cause instead of displaying 4 dashes it displays 7 safe doas this mean its locked cheers,

Oh thats good. What does it say in the manual? Has the code been entered 3 times incorrectly?

Dont know for sure but my quess it has thats why i think it maybe locked , if it is is there a way it can be unlocked , i dont have a manual so im stumped ,

I think 7 relates to the number of attempts you have left at entering the code.

Try the following to see if you can get the code prompt up ( i found this on another forum for a different Vauxhall model stereo but i am sure the principals are the same)

Switch ignition on
Make sure Headunit is switched off
Press "AS", keep pressed and switch on stereo
You will here a bleep, and the display requests the code
Use radio presets 1 to 4 to input code pressing each preset as many times as the digit in the code
Press "AS" again, keep pressed until unit is functional.

You can also download a manual from the owners section of the Vauxhall website, you'll need to register first on the site, but after that you can find all manuals for all cars (vauxhall that is!!)
