Default Vx Software/Firmware ECU updates – 1.9 CDTI

Does anyone know when (or even if) Vx release software/firmware updates for any of the ECU’s? Anyone got a current list or know when the last ones were issued? (either the 120 or 150)

I see this as the only reason to go to the dealers for a service (I assume independents can’t update ECU’s).

    Nice.

How would you go about finding out if a garage is 'able' to do this? Of course, you could ask them and they'd say 'yes sir' but you would be none the wiser if theve done it or not..

Can the car tell you what version(s) it is running (and importantly can, Vx tell you if there are updates availbile?)

Found on mine that if I press the speedo trip button and hold it for several seconds it comes up with some numbers (not mileage to next service) that look like they could be a software version number, could try it on yours and see what happens and if the same give VX a buzz to verify.
    Cheers Pete

thats the software version for the instruments, nothing else..

    SnapSnap,
there's no way to tell, unless you have 'proper' diagnostic gear like OP-Com or Vauxcom or TECH2..thats the only way you'll see what versions it's running

Be careful as I've heard some software upgrades can "slow" your car down. Sometimes due to emmissions tweaks. I'd say leave it alone if its running fine.

I had my car's ECU updated due to my complaint it was a bit 'shaky' when on idle under a load (from air-con, rear windowd heating, etc.)... and now it is shaky even whitout any load . Not happy with it. As they say - best is the enemy of better - stick to what you have and you're happy about it
