    Default anti-tailgating light idea

While driving to work today and being tailgated for a bit got me thinking...

Could the parking sensor (either the existing system or an add'l stand alone unit) be hooked up the rear fog lights so that if a car got too close, it would flash the rear lights which would appear to the following car like the brakes coming on and encourage them to fall back?

    just wondering...

Probably, but I would imagine it would be considered as dangerous - not that tail gate isn't, but two rights and all that!

Does it really increase the danger of the situation or decrease it? If I think of it as a warning light -- it is just telling you that you are too close, then all it does is increasing the safety.

If the fear is that the tailgater will slam his/her brakes on seeing the light -- that is not a new risk -- if you braked (for a real reason) they may still slam the brakes -- so this doesn't increase the level of risk.

Not arguing -- just thinking out loud on this...

It would have to cleverer than the parking sensor system I suppose. Further away for a start - although it seems like they are close, they are probably not at .5 metre or wherever the normal system starts - and it would want to be speed-dependent. But I reckon it would end up, like those signs that flash your speed in a restricted area, becoming a challenge for the lunatic behind to get it to flash.

Tailgating really gets me wound up, all I do is put my front washers on for quited a time this seem to work especially with soft-top and motor bikes.

AS a biker, I love it when car drivers do this - I use the windscreen wash to clear my visor.

If you were not driving so slowly then people would tailgate less, yes? JOKING haha

I'd suggest a gun firing pellets of cat diahorrea that triggers when they get too close.
