Default Airbag light keeps coming on - how do you remove the bottom part of the dashboard?

Hi all, i hope someone can help me with this problem.

i have found that everytime i reverse my car up my driveway the car seems to twist slightly and the airbag light comes on for a day or so.

i seem to remember reading on this forum that there are some wires that get trapped or cut under the center console. can anybody tell how to remove the part of the dashboard so that i can get to the wires.

    Thankyou for your help. Graham

i think there's a bit more to it than appears... the airbag has far more wiring to the 6 bags, the deceleration sensors and the controller than just runs under the console...

have you had the airbag fault read out?...that will be the best place to start before you tear the interior apart..

Up date about my airbag light problem, i have adjusted my steering wheel up slightly and the light has not been on for over a month
Has anyone else found / tried this
All i can think is that the wires must be to tight in the column what do others think?

Now that is interesting - my airbag light has been coming on and off over the past few weeks and I've been trying to find out why, but yesterday I noticed while sitting in traffic that it suddenly came on when I turned the wheel to the right.

I think I'll be taking the steering column apart this weekend...

Well I have not taken the column apart, but I have repositioned the column height... and I now have a permanent airbag light! I've put it back to where it was before with the same result.

If its dry tomorrow I'll strip it down as it looks like it may be a loose plug/cabling issue in the column (unless anybody else can suggest something else?).

    Possible damaged CIM?

Would that effect other things though? Everything else is working fine otherwise.

Could a read of the codes pinpoint the CIM?

Sorry to read the light is on permanent but it dose look as if its some thing in the column
please keep us informed how you get on.
By the way my light would come on for a day or two then go out just like a bad wire connection or a cut in it
