    Default Engine Management problem

Yeah Ok I know I posted this in the wrong forum first time. Is it me or is it not particularly obvious how to post a new thread from the home page???? Anyway to business - I have a really strange problem on my 2.2DTI. I have noticed over the last few weeks the glow plug light has not been coming on. Not sure what temperature the system is set to before it does, but I am sure it should be coming on now first thing, although this may be incidental to the actual fault. Today, while travelling on the motorway at 70 mph, the traction control warning light came on. This was followed a short time later by the management warning light coming on and off, and then the ABS warning light also came on. After a while the speedo began to behave erratically, and then the alternator warning light began to come on and off intermittantly. All this accompanied by the management warning light constantly coming on and off. Eventually all the instruments stopped working, speedo and tacho indicating 0, temp and fuel gauge showing 0 and no fuel. On board computer just showed "F" on all the values (Wife commented probably for f****d). Finally, the power steering packed up. Throughout all this the engine ran fine, no loss of power etc. I stopped the engine, and upon restarting all was fine, until about 10 miles down the road when it went through the same sequence of faults including power steering failing. On re-starting when reaching home (approx 70 miles) it now runs OK again but same faults after about 10 miles. I would guess the control module is failing but does anyone have any ideas? Engine has done 160,000 miles bye the way but runs like new.

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

It sounds like low battery voltage to me. Either real or mis-reported as such.
Is the alternator in good condition? Is the battery old? Have you done a voltage check over the battery terminals with and without engine running? Maybe the voltage regulator is on it's way out (difficult to tell yet)

    Do you have a multimeter?

    i answered elsewhere as well....

the glowplugs only work below 10 deg C ambient air temp, so in this weather they shouldn't be needed..

the other fault sounds like either the ABS plug had got some corrosion in it, or the CIM is starting to fail..either can be confirmed at a dealers or an independant with the correct equipment..
