    Default Diesel Smell

Ive got a intermittant smell of diesel from my vectra. I've fitted a new filler cap, which seemed too cure it for a while, but now it's doing it again. Are there any good after market locking caps on the market?

Where's the smell, on the outside or inside the car? Coming through the air vents?

    Give us a clue!

probably not got a tight seal on the cap check it out and maybe replace it. if its not that then you may have to look at the filler pipe and fuel tank. that is worst case, again if its not that then take it to a garage to look at.

make sure the area around the filler cap is cleaned, put some gaffer tape around the filler door for a day or so and see if the smell still exists

Should The Filler Cap Hold Pressure In The Tank?

yes im pretty sure it does, if you let your fuel run low, then goto fill up, you usually get a pressure hiss when you remove the fuel cap
