silver specs are bad news as that will be metal particles.....
what you need to do is change the oil again, with the filter...and then examine the drained oil to see if it has the mettalic flecks in ...
2005 1.9 CDTI
Is this still under warranty (third year) ?
If so, I suggest you remove a sample of oil and take it into the dealership
Out of Warranty,
Running fine, odd rattle on start ( not every time ) when cold, but purring like new??
Not losing any fluids at all.

it won't affect the running at all... if it's metal, then it's the engine wearing away at itself....
it needs serious investigation very soon...
What oil was used at last oil and filter change?
Whats the service history like?
why do you ask??...
he has fresh oil in the car...and he has metal particles in the oil?....
neither of those questions will help him?.. he's out of warranty..besides, even the incorrect oil won't cause mettalic erosion inside the engine..something is clearly wearing when it shouldn't be....
previous service history is irrelevant..if it's out of warranty you can't persue VX for anything....
Full service history, last done at dealers couple of months ago on a service. Oil on service rc'pt but not with me ... 10?? all I can remember, and fuel additive put in.
even if they used 10W40 ( which is an inferior oil and must be changed every 10,000 miles ) then it still wouldn't cause this....trust me..![]()
What would be the best way to check? On aircraft they'd check to see what the metal is and could narrrow down part. On a car?
