Default One For The Oil Burners......

This is a genuine photo I took the other day on a good run........ yeh ok it came down a few miles after but not as much as you may think by the end of the run.

So what you may think..... well this is on a 2.2 auto after sticking some fuel cleaner through it and a good few hundred miles run..... oh and cruise.

I didnt believe it my self so had to record it......

PS It wasnt down hill either.... but it was level ( Just after Warick on the M40 )

Yep - when it settled worked out about 430ish in range..... didnt do mpg.

I was supprised as its normally about 410 motoway only as a rule. The point I'm trying to make is that even with a newish car ( mines only 14k on the clock and an 07 ) running cleaner through and giving it a good blast helps the economey no end..... I've even noticed the diffrence round town.

The M40 around Warwick is as flat as a pancake. That always helps fuel economy, especially on cruise control.

I had a manual 2.2 Direct Elite, never got above 32 mpg however I drove it. And that was real-world figures, the trip computer always said about 35-37...

    My 1.9 diesel, however...

Now, when I bought my 2.2, the 1.9 150 would have been an extra GRAND, which was worth about 50,000 miles of driving in the petrol, so was the better choice at the time. However, the engine itself I found to have no torque and no power below 4000 rpm. If you can get a good, reliable 150 diesel, I'd always go for one of them.

Good thing about cars though, is it's all down to personal choice...
