Default Help - 2.8 Turbo Elite steering fault?

A strange fault has developed with the steering on my vectra. I can only describe it as after around 10 minutes of driving, the steering goes heavy and the front tyres seem to become really sticky (as if you are driving over white lines in the road, or if your tyres have suddenly deflated). Steering around bends gives you the impression that is understeering or aquaplaning...

If you stop the car and restart the ignition it cures it for another 10 mins or so, suggesting it's some odd electrical fault.

All the tyres are are the right pressure, the car has been into Vauxhall - they checked all the suspension components, tyres etc. Also they have Tech2'd it, no faults found anywhere.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Car is a 2007 Vectra Elite 2.8 turbo 250.

Cheers for the quick reply. How do i explain to them that the pump's faulty if they've checked it all over and found no fault?

they need to keep it a while and get them to run it about....so they can feel the steering fault...there's more to diagnosing a failing part than plugging in TECH2..

Sorry to hijack the thread, but so nice to see someone else with the same engine as me
Just wanted to know on you fuel computer when you let off the throttle does yours show 999.99mpg straight away or does it take a while?
Mine some time goes to 999.99 when you let off and you feel the car slowing like if you turned the engine off. Other times it just goes up to about 80mpg with no feeling of slowing.
    Maybe a ecu software fault??

the 999.9MPG is when the car has shut off it's fuelling...the throttle is closed so it delivers minimal fuel to keep the engine idling. the 80mpg figure is when you are still applying minimal throttle so it still provides slightly more fuel..

all sounds normal to me..no fault there..

Yeah I'm sure i've seen 999.9MPG before. However most of the time I see less than 20mpg . Especially when the car was in at the dealers last week. I reset the trip computer before it went in. Afterwards it had done 6.5 miles @ 10.5mpg. Hmmmmm

Hmm... it's not clever is it?....

    flamin test pilots....

my 2.8T will see a minimum of 6.8MPG but to a max of 31MPG....which is actually better than my GSi....

Know what you mean about the garages they seem to forget that people can check how the car has been driven.
On a long run i think the car is really good for the engine it has. Just a little bad news round town, or when having fun
Still soon be handling better when the new shocks and springs go on.

52K on mine now and averaged 27 overall, as has been posted around town not so good but on the motorway cruising its exceptionally good for an engine of this size, on a recent trip from London to Newcastle I averaged well over 37 but i did have the wife and grandaughter in the car so was not doing the usual speeds.

As far as the 999.9 and 80 are concerned its exactly what I see on mine and think its entirely normal.
