Default '52' plate Saab 9-5 2.2 Ttid estate

Does anybody know if the above Saab model has the same engine as the Vectra 2.2 DTi. Chatting to someone who was in one of them when filling up at the pumps, who told me his car was a diesel and 'it goes like stink'.

'Oh, really?' I thought to myself. On a nearby bypass I had a start on him, he overhauled me and just kept on getting away. When the speed reached a certain level, I backed off, but boy that buggger really flies, or did my bottle go?

All-in-all very impressive. I'd heard that the Vectra 2.2DTI was no slouch and maybe this proves it.

I had the saloon and it had plenty of torque but it wasn't exactly quick. Are you sure he didn't have a chipped V6?

Hi used to have the 2.2 diesel Saab and although it was reasonably quick it was nothing compared to my v6 cdti. Mid range though i would say it was very close. I am lead to beleave that in the Saab it is geared more to mid range (like all saab engines) then it i sin the Vectra, though this may be b*llocks.

I wouldnt have one again though for the simple fact that it used to drink oil at almost the same speed as it did diesel, a problem i think the vectra 2.2dti shares.

It is indeed the same engine. No way should it be able to keep up with yours imo.

Just needs a bit of encouragement. JK's car is an absolute flyer. I've only driven it once and it goes like stink. Stops well too.

That's what I thought. I do prefer taking the left hand lane at a roundabout when continuing on the straight ahead, as I once nearly got sideswiped by some clown turning right at a roundabout from the left hand lane when I wanted to continue straight ahead from the right hand lane.

He took the right laneand got across and into the right hand lane before me on the other side and he clearly booted it. I was catching him but I couldn't quite get close enough and then I noticed what speed I was doing and backed off, as it was getting near to traffic lights and single carriageway and to continue at that speed would have been dangerous and reckless. So I suppose I bottled it to a degree but I was not expecting him to pull away so quickly.

Sure it would have been a different story on a motorway.

It definitely was a 2.2 Ttid , as I got close enough to read the badge at the back. And I also noticed it was a minicab.

    Bet he enjoyed the blast
