if the spanner light comes on then there is a fault even if it goes out again, needs to be diagnosed as it should have registered a fault in the ECU.....

whilst the light is on the engine ecu is in safe mode so the motor will not rev high until the light is out, as said get the fault codes read first & take it from there.
a good place to start looking is vac hose conectors & tubes for splits, also air flow meters can fail & boost pipes split.

This usually means there is a fault on the pre heating system as the light goes out as soon as there is a bit of heat in the motor.

remove front engine plastic cover..look at where the boost pipe enters the engine in front of you.. in the first alloy elbow . it's the very first sensor.. one torx bolt and one connector..sealed with a reusable o ring..remove bolt and connector, twist 90 Deg and pull out..

the little bulb inside the plastic cage should be brass coloured, but i'd lay good money yours is black.. Carb cleaner will clean it up, but be gentle with it..

Can't say for the sensor, but "creaking up front" is usually a sign that a spring is about to give out!
