    Arrow 1.8 missfire.

Hello, my first post and i'm looking for help. Ive not made the move to vec c from b yet buy one of my mates has one.

Its an 02 plate 1.8 and has had a problem with stuttering for a while(only happens at random times). The car developed a missfire a few weeks ago and he foned the..AA i think. The mech plugged in a fault reader and got 0170 and 1450..which from here is...

    http://www.iequus.com/support/obd2_definitions.php

    0170 - P0170, Generic, Fuel Trim (Bank 1).
    1450 - P1450, GM, BARO Sensor Circuit.

Mate said the AA mech cleaned the egr and it ran smooth till he got on the motorway, then went back to running badly.

Cars been serviced afaik. Just wondering what BARO sensor is. I thought problem might be dispack, but he got a fone call yesterday from a 'vaux expert' mech he went to(cars been with him for nearly 2 weeks) and they changed the pack but it was still missfiring...and they cant find whats wrong with it.

Afaik there's no eml on atm but the problems still there.

    Found this...

1.Was the car cold when you did this or was it already warmed up?
2.Does the car missfire when revs increase while you are driving and engine is under load?
3.When you first start the car from cold does it tick over ok or is it noisy/lumpy straight away?

If the car was cold when you did this it is possible that you have burnt out an O2 sensor.
If the car struggles to maintain power while driving, it could be the ecu cutting the HT spark to prevent engine damage, it will do this if it gets incorrect info from O2 sensors. Usually ok when first started from cold as ecu disregards O2 sensors initially to allow them to reach operating temp.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT CONTINUING TO DRIVE WITH FAULTY O2 SENSORS CAN WRECK THE CAT AND AIR MASS METER, CAT USUALLY BREAKS DOWN DUE TO RAW FUEL ON CERAMIC SURFACES, AIR MASS METER BURNS OUT/ OVERHEATS TRYING TO CORRECT INCORRECT O2 READINGS.

    from here...

The 02 sensor bit seems to fit the symptoms...worth checking?

    Cheers.
