    Default 2.2 direct wont rev

    Hi all,

    I have a Vectra C 2.2 direct in the workshop at the moment that has the following symptoms:

    missfire at idle and under light load: (now fixed, faulty plug and coilpack)

    Engine will rev to the limiter but only light progressive throttle under 60%. Anything over this and it will limit at 3-4k rpm and wont rev any further, initila thought was MAF but that seems fine, all readings are correct.

    No fault codes or lights on the dash, Pedal in the car is fine, Throttle position sensor is fine as is the throttle control module,

    Fuel pressure/pump issue???

    i know you say the pedal is fine, but it does make me wonder if , as it pulls to the limiter under partial pedal, the pedal's internal tracks have worn, so as you make it pull under full pedal position it's getting an erronious sensor reading from the pedal and stopping it from opening the butterfly stepper enough to let it reach full rpm under 'max accel' position..

    if the engine will rev well at 1/2 throttle it's got to be either the pedal or the butterfly.. max RPM will still need the same fuel pressure no matter how it's acheived ( partial of full throttle)..

    Do you have access to live data?.. is the voltage progression from the throttle pedal linear and smooth or does it 'spike' or 'break down' past the 60% position?..

    Definitely not the pedal, have tested it on the car with diagnostic tools as well as on the bench.

    also, I am confused as to why you say the engine will require the same fuel at max RPM under part and full throttle, looking at the Map in the ecu this is not correct, may have mis-understood your reply. (fuel requirement at full throttle at max RPM is 10% less than at 70% throttle)

    That sounds very familiar to the problem I had on mine a few years ago.

    It turned out to be the pump!!!
