the kit from car audio direct comes with a cage which you put in in place of the stereos one as they are slightly too big and also has the plates and keys to lock/unlock the stereo from the cage hth

cheers mate, was looking at that one earlier, £40 seems a bit steep tho...for what it is. i got this one :
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=012

was wanting one with sat nav, bluetooth etc but my budget would not stretch to it and i have an n95 with sat nav anyway. was just wanting a double din radio as the cdr2005 is naff (if your into music) and then i thought if im gettin a double din one i might as well get a dvd player. tell me this, a friend of mine reakons i need to connect it to my handbrake or else the dvd player wont work. ?is this true?

i came across these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...n%3D2%26ps%3D5
would they fit, (they say every other vx except the vec) or would you recommend the other more expensive ones?

no you dont understand mate you NEED that kit as an aftermarket cage doesnt fit in the hole so the kit you have is the bits of plastic , the cage and plates and keys. so if you just by that off ebay you wont be able to fit the stereo

I'm no expert but I rekon your mate's having a laugh I've never heard of a DVD connected to a handbrake, it's mildly plausable I guess to stop you watching and driving but I don't see the point, you can watch EastEnders with the freeview adapter at 90mph so I don't see why you couldn't watch a DVD!

I would avoid the ebay covers myself, if they don't say Vectra they probably won't fit.

its a good job i asked! i thought they would of pretty much been universal. ffs another £40...but at the end of the day i want it to look good anyway and was a bit dubious of the cheap ebay version.

i`ll prob never use the dvd player anyway (its just for show LOL) but tbh i`ve heard before (from a different source) that they need to be connected to the handbrake.....hopefully it wont tho. think i`ll pay the extra and get the proper cage and surround. dont suppose you know the colour, looks like gunmetal to me?
