drive belts again!!!!

Hello all! much help needed again pls. My car is becoming the death of me! Vaxhole repaired my drive belt tensioner 2 years ago under warranty. On driving home from a holiday the battery light came on again in the driveway, looks like either a belt has snapped or another pully has come off again. Dealer not interested in repairing it so is it easy to do for the faint hearted or is it an expensive garage job? Thanks guys

the first thing you need to do is open the bonnet and see if the belt is still on all the pulleys, and if the bottom engine pulley is in one piece...if it's broken into two rings then the part is £220+V but it will need someone with a big airgun to undo the bottom bolt.. not really an 'at home' DIY procspect but any independant could do it..

If the belt is on, then it could be either a failed alternator or battery.. a simple check with a multimeter will tell...the battery should be at 12V static, no less than 10.5 V when satrting and between 13.4v and 14.4V when the engine is running...
